Diffusion during electron-beam-induced reduction of tungsten trioxide
نویسنده
چکیده
We report experimental results on the kinetics of the electron-beam-induced reduction of WO, by in situ high-resolution electron microscopy. Electron-beam irradiation of WO, results in complete reduction to W. The process is surfaceinitiated through desorption of oxygen from the crystal surface, and the subsequent growth of tungsten was found to be a diffusion-controlled process. The damage rate follows a para-linear curve, that is, an initially parabolic damage rate degenerating into a linear rate. The epitaxial relationship between WO, and W was found to be (OOl)wo3//(l10)w The WO, lattice has a critical nucleus size of about 2.6nm. 0

متن کاملElectron beam induced formation of tungsten sub-oxide nanorods from flame-formed fragments.
The rapid formation of tungsten oxide nanorods through electron beam (EB) irradiation on the surface of micron-sized flame formed tungsten-oxide fragments is reported. The micro-sized fragments (precursor material) were formed in a counter-flow methane diffusion flame on the surface of a tungsten wire. Nanorods of various lengths and aspect ratios were rapidly formed in the surrounding area of ...
متن کاملElectron induced reactions of surface adsorbed tungsten hexacarbonyl (W(CO)6).
Tungsten hexacarbonyl (W(CO)(6)) is frequently used as an organometallic precursor to create metal-containing nanostructures in electron beam induced deposition (EBID). However, the fundamental electron stimulated reactions responsible for both tungsten deposition and the incorporation of carbon and oxygen atom impurities remain unclear. To address this issue we have studied the effect of 500 e...

We present a numerical investigation of energy and charge distributions during electron-beam-induced growth of tungsten nanostructures on SiO2 substrates by using a Monte Carlo simulation of the electron transport. This study gives a quantitative insight into the deposition of energy and charge in the substrate and in the already existing metallic nanostructures in the presence of the electron ...
متن کاملFacile Hydrogen Evolution Reaction on WO3Nanorods
Tungsten trioxide nanorods have been generated by the thermal decomposition (450 C) of tetrabutylammonium decatungstate. The synthesized tungsten trioxide (WO3) nanorods have been characterized by XRD, Raman, SEM, TEM, HRTEM and cyclic voltammetry. High resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the synthesized WO3 nanorods are crystalline in nature w...
